Kennesaw Couple Fight Over Knife in Front of Daughter

The argument started over body weight, a police warrant says.

A Kennesaw couple was arrested after a fight in front of their young child which involved a knife and strangulation, the Marietta Daily Journal reports.

According to a warrant acquired by the MDJ, Scott and Elaina Genton began arguing over body weight on Dec. 2 at their home on Spindletop Drive. The warrant states that Elaina eventually went into the kitchen and produced a kitchen knife. The two Gentons struggled over the knife, and Scott eventually got the knife away from Elaina.

After Scott got the knife, the warrant states, he began strangling Elaina and then held the knife against her throat. The Gentons’ nine-year-old daughter witnessed the whole altercation, the warrant says.

The Gentons were charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor cruelty to children, according to Cobb County jail records. Elaina was released from detention on Dec. 5 on a $10,000 bond, while Scott was released on Dec. 6 on a $15,000 bond, jail records show.
