A young lady at a Kennesaw elementary school has been recognized as the Georgia Association of Gifted Children’s Distinguished Elementary Gifted Student of the Year, the Cobb County School District announced Tuesday.
Amelia McCarthy, who is a second grade student at Kennesaw Elementary School, has created a company called “Stick Up” and has begun selling decorated pretzel sticks which reflect seasonal or holiday themes. Instead of keeping the money she earns from selling the sticks, she gives it all to either the March of Dimes or animal protection nonprofits, the district writes.
