Established in 2017 to advocate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,
EQUINOX is dedicated to the social, economic and ecological impacts of sustainability
within the local-global framework. Guest speakers, workshops and exhibits involve
local, national and international participants and presenters, including faculty from
Kennesaw State, the Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University and representatives
from the UN. This year’s event focuses on the intersections of good health and well-being
and climate action, two of the 17 goals of the initiative.
“For four years now, EQUINOX has shown the critical role that higher education can
play in broadening awareness and strengthening community-engaged scholarship by bringing
together students, scholars, practitioners, policymakers and community partners to
share their knowledge and skills,” said Pegah Zamani, associate professor of architecture
and EQUINOX founder.
In addition to the Department of Architecture, EQUINOX is supported by KSU’s Division
of Global Affairs and Office of Research, as well as student organizations like the
National Organization of Minority Architecture Students, the Alpha Rho Chi fraternity
and the American Institute of Architecture Students.
A variety of multidisciplinary events across both KSU campuses will focus on the development
goals. Events throughout the week include: EQUINOX Symposium: United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

Academy of Sciences.
