KENNESAW, GA — Officials at Kennesaw State University are planning to speak to students next week about coming together after two people were accused of attacking a KSU student off-campus, leaving the student with a bloodied nose.

The incident occurred on Jan. 2 1 at the West 22 Apartment Complex. Police said at the time the attack seemed racially motivated.

It is unclear what led to the confrontation. The student, who is Black, told police he was attacked for no apparent reason while he was exiting his car. The student said the men directed a racial slur at him during the attack, police said.

" ... I want to be clear: this incident goes against everything we stand for at KSU. You've heard me speak many times about the importance of community at our university, and an attack on one individual is an attack on our very principles. Hate or violence will never be condoned at KSU."

Schwaig said the university will begin having conversations with students about uniting and learning from one another.

All motives are being explored in the case though police said the attack could ultimately be racially motivated.
