Kennesaw Will Revisit Mosque Issue Monday
Mayor Mark Mathews said that council members who initially voted against the mosque have changed their minds.

Members of Cobb County’s Muslim community may soon have another place to worship, The Marietta Daily Journal reports.
According to the MDJ, Mayor Mark Mathews revealed during a Wednesday work session that each of the four Kennesaw City Council members who voted against a proposed mosque inside a shopping center on Jiles Road have come to him in private asking to reverse their decision.
After the city council voted 4-1 against the mosque’s application on Dec. 1, the attorney representing the mosque supporters threatened to sue the city for alleged violations of the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act.

The mosque’s application will again be on the agenda at the next city council meeting on Monday night, the MDJ says, and it now appears likely that the place of worship will be approved.
The MDJ reports that Mathews said the city council wants to ensure that the city has ample facilities for its residents to live, work, play, and worship.
