KSU to Begin HR Certification Course on Sept. 13
The program helps HR professionals prepare for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) competency-based certifications

Kennesaw State University’s College of Continuing and Professional Education is adding a new Saturday course to help HR professionals prepare for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) competency-based certifications. The SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM –CP) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credentials establish HR professionals as recognized experts in the field.
Lisa Hughes, a senior-level human resource professional with 20+ years of comprehensive HR experience, leads the program. She holds SHRM-SCP, SPHR and GPHR credentials. Since 2012, she has been a continuing education instructor for the HR program.
Marcia Lankford, program graduate, said she enjoyed the HR management class.

“Lisa Hughes is the most fabulous and awesome instructor I’ve ever had,” Lankford said. “She made the class interactive and fun. It was engaging. It was very fast paced, but she made us feel that we could do it.”
The program is ideal for HR professionals who are looking to further their careers and individuals who want advanced education and training. HR professionals seeking to enhance their marketability by gaining current HR knowledge will also benefit from the course.

The HR certification program covers four knowledge domains: People, Organization, Workplace and Strategy. The course also covers HR’s eight behavioral competencies: relationship management, consultation, leadership & navigation, communication, global & cultural effectiveness, ethical practice, business acumen, critical evaluation.
“Students will build a solid foundation and invaluable professional expertise,” said Jennifer Henderson, program manager. “These certifications prove your knowledge, competency and value to colleagues and employers.”
Orientation for the HR management course is on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at from 6:00pm - 7:30pm. The remainder of the course sessions will be held every-other Saturday for six sessions beginning September 23.
