KSU Offering AutoCAD Information Session This Month
The free session is in advance of a professional certificate course beginning in October.

A free AutoCAD Essentials information session is July 30 at 7:30 p.m at the College of Continuing and Professional Education at KSU.
The professional certificate course begins Oct. 3 and is designed for entry-level computer-aided design (CAD) operators who work with engineers. The class benefits individuals in select industries. “AutoCAD is the most widely used computer-aided design software for producing architectural, engineering and construction drawings,” said Kristy Mobley, program manager.

“This program will teach the core topics required for this industry.” The program is instructed by Pavan Meadati, formerly with SPSU, who brings nearly a decade of experience in teaching and consulting in the areas of building information modeling (BIM), laser scanning and project management. “This is another example of the many benefits the KSU/SPSU consolidation has created,” said Barbara Calhoun, dean. “We are excited to reboot this tremendous program and add another resource to the community for individuals looking to polish their skills.”
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that employment of industrial designers was expected to grow through 2022 with the best opportunities for drafters with experience and formal training using CAD technology.

The 32-hour class costs $1,499 and more information can be obtained at the College’s upcoming Career Training Expo July 30. The free event is held at KSU Center (3333 Busbee Drive). More information can be found at ksuexpo.com. The College is also planning an advanced program and other AutoCAD courses set to debut in 2016.
