A Real Estate Property Management certificate course is slated to begin Aug. 15 at the College of Continuing and Professional Education at KSU. The award-winning course prepares students to move directly into real estate careers. Last year, the program was recognized by the Georgia Apartment Industry Education Foundation (GAIEF) with two awards – Top Strategic Partner in Promoting Apartment Industry Careers and Educator of the Year (Sherle Brown).
In addition to Brown, the class is taught by a group of instructors possessing more than 150 years of combined experience. “Students are not only are learning theory, they are learning how to apply it and what it looks like in real life,” said Deborah Westphal, instructor. “Organizations like IREM, NAA and GAIEF are promoting careers in our industry as a way to attract more qualified individuals into real estate.”

The course is designed to orient students to the leasing and customer service responsibilities of the apartment industry. “After I finished the class, I had a job interview for a tenant services coordinator,” said Lisa Lewis, graduate. “They saw I went to KSU. It helped a lot.”
Another graduate, Stephanie Osborne, said, “As someone who was already working in the field, I wanted to expand my career opportunities. Having the ability to speak with top-industry leaders and build solid relationships with them was the feather in my cap!”

“The future is looking brighter for the real estate industry, and training students to be prepared for this influx of business opportunities will be a top priority for the class,” Westphal said.
The 32-hour class costs $1,095 and qualifies for VA Education Benefits. To register or for more information, visit ccpe.kennesaw.edu or call 470-578-6765.
