"Off The Leash" Pet Themed Art Show to benefit Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue

The Art Station at Big Shanty Park and Mostly Mutts Host First Annual Pet Themed Art Show

Kennesaw - This fall The Art Station at Big Shanty Park invites artists to display their pet themed work in their first ever Off the Leash Art Show. Art submissions are open to the public and all ready to display pieces from a variety of mediums are welcome. Proceeds from art sales will benefit local animal rescue group Mostly Mutts. Artists must bring their pieces to The Art Station September 26th -September 28th between 9:30 AM-8:30 PM to be eligible for the show.

The Off the Leash reception will be held in The Art Station gallery on October 5th from 6:00-8:00 PM. Live music, light hors d’oeuvres, crafts for the kids, a raffle, and a chance to meet some adoptable dogs are a few of the attractions free to the public at this event. The Art Station and Mostly Mutts only ask for a monetary or material donation at the door. Mostly Mutts’ wish list can be found on their website mostlymutts.org. The Art Station and Mostly Mutts invite the community to come out and support these artists while helping some of our four-legged friends find a forever home.

“This is such a creative way to involve the community in both supporting the arts and helping save homeless pets” said Tammy Turley, Executive Director of Mostly Mutts. “We hope this event is successful and becomes an annual tradition.”

The Art Station at Big Shanty Park or TAS is an art facility of Cobb County P.A.R.K.S. Cultural Affairs. The historic facility, originally built as a summer home for the Rooker family, houses three multi-media classrooms, a pottery studio, meeting space, and gallery space which allow TAS to provide the community with opportunities in the arts through classes, camps, and gallery shows. From wood burning to guitar lessons The Art Station offers creative experiences to all ages and interests.

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue and Adoption strives to reduce the number of animals euthanized at local shelters in Metro Atlanta by working with animal control officers to save adoptable dogs that are moments away from being put to sleep. Often, these dogs are sick, injured and require rehabilitation. Mostly Mutts provides housing, health care, training, and physical and emotional care to these rescued animals until they can be placed in a new “furever home.” Since 2004, Mostly Mutts has saved approximately 7,000 animals. Mostly Mutts is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, licensed by the Dept. of Agriculture and staffed by volunteers. It is privately funded through donations and adoption fees.
