Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue receives a Maddie's Fund Innovation Grant

National Family Foundation Maddie's Fund awards an Innovation Grant to Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue for a pre-adoption training program

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue just learned it has been awarded a Maddie’s Fund Innovation Grant for its pre-adoption training program. Maddie’s Fund is a family foundation established in 1994 that has awarded more than $187 million in grants towards increased community life-saving, shelter medicine education and pet adoptions across the United States.

“We are so grateful to Maddie’s Fund for this amazing opportunity.” said Tammy Turley, Executive Director. “We are putting in place a program to train dogs in basic commands, obedience and leash walking, to ensure they get adopted faster. This is something we have wanted to do for a long time, and we are very excited to work with our trainer partners to begin implementation.”

Mostly Mutts would like to officially recognize and thank its superstar team of volunteers and foster families during this year’s “National Volunteer Week.” Several activities are planned at the shelter to show the volunteers and foster families just how much the rescued animals appreciate their hard work.

This will also be the final week of the Mostly Mutts 9th Annual “Flea” Market, which ends on Saturday, April 29 at 5pm. Prices of all merchandise have been reduced by more than 50%, and further reductions will continue each day until Saturday. This is a great opportunity to support Mostly Mutts while buying items at a fraction of their value. The location is 2700 Town Center Drive, Suite 124, in the same shopping center as Longhorn Steak House across from Town Center Mall. Hours are 11am to 5pm daily.

Mostly Mutts strives to reduce the number of animals euthanized at local shelters in Metro Atlanta by working with animal control officers to save adoptable dogs that are moments away from being put to sleep. Often, these dogs are sick, injured and require rehabilitation. Mostly Mutts provides housing, health care, training, and physical and emotional care to these rescued animals until they can be placed in a new “furever home.” Since 2004, Mostly Mutts has saved approximately 6,500 animals.
