NCCS Freshman Ready to Play Tonight
Player of the Week Chris Sferra loves football because it's a "man's sport."

As a freshman, Chris Sferra of Kennesaw is ready to start his fourth football season at today at 5 p.m. The team hosts Mount Zion-Carroll at home, and the big offensive tackle can't wait.
This is the freshman's fourth year of football after playing three years on the NCCS middle school team. "I love the pure drive of it," Chris said when asked why he loves the sport. "It makes you strong and teaches you things about life—it's a man's sport."
The son of John and Dacia Sferra of Kennesaw, Chris has had to juggle a lot in his life lately. His father has battled serious health issues the past year, so life has changed a bit for his family's routine. But No. 69 has maintained good grades, his faith and his commitment to football through it all.

Chris also enjoys theater, especially after having a starring role in last spring's NCCS production of Beauty and the Beast. He played the role of Maurice, Belle's father, in the sold-out musical. He also plays the piano in his spare time.
Last year the varsity team claimed the first win in the school's history against Mount Zion-Carroll by the score of 26-8 to open the season. Chris hopes to help repeat that outcome tonight. The team is led by Coach Harry Miles, who is in his third year at the Kennesaw school.
