At KSU’s College of Continuing and Professional Education, workers can stay ahead of the game by enrolling in financial training courses. Programs like Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis, Personal Financial Planner, Payroll Professional and Bookkeeper Professional, can help students and professionals keep abreast of the latest developments, skills and new technologies in the field.
“The traditional finance foundation in accounting doesn’t cut it in today’s competitive global talent market,” said Jennifer Henderson, program manager. “Candidates need tech skills and experience in areas including cloud-based software, data analytics, advanced modeling techniques and SQL, along with business intelligence. Those individuals with advanced skills, expertise and strong communication and collaboration skills are in high demand.”
Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis Professional

This certificate program helps individuals learn the best practices for analyzing trends, building forecasts and creating financial models. The instructor-led course is offered in partnership with the Association for Financial Professionals and is designed for individuals seeking credentials that will focus on mastering the core functions of the FP&A role. Earning a Certified Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis Professional credential will establish students as recognized experts in the FP&A field.
Personal Financial Planner

The financial planning field is one of the fastest growing professions. In fact, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts financial planner jobs will grow faster than average due to the wealthier and longer-living population requiring more financial guidance. This 15-month course taught by industry professionals provides existing and future financial professionals the skills and training needed to deliver comprehensive and accurate personal financial planning services to their clients. Through this curriculum students will learn to analyze and advise in all core areas of personal financial planning. The program is set to begin April of 2017.
Payroll Professional
Payroll professionals maintain the company’s compliance by keeping up with the constantly changing regulations and procedures. The certificate program, done in partnership with the American Payroll Association, is comprised of two professional development courses: PayTrain® Fundamentals and PayTrain® Mastery. With this program workers can prepare for the Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification exams. These courses can help professional advance in their career and reach their goals.
Bookkeeper Professional
This unique course will provide students the skills necessary to become savvy with the QuickBooks accounting software package installed on an individually-assigned, remote computer. This virtual desktop environment allows for hands-on QuickBooks practice from inside or outside the classroom.
