What about my Child On the Plane in the air? And any Rx to give child before the plane trip? Feeling Stressed

Thank you Feeling Stressed for this Question, excellent points I didn't cover on flying with an ADHD child!
First, on the plane after making it through the screenings and boarding...congratulate yourself when you get that far,and seriously praise your child for their accomplishments during all of that time! On the plane, I recommend carrying small games like magnetic ones, or if video games are their fav, then get a new one before the trip and let them play it ONLY on the plane ride there and back! Pick and choose your battles, like all of us professionals recommend time should be limited on these video games, However, this journey in flight may be the exception to the rule! If your child tends to hyper focus on these types of games, use that to your advantage while in the air! Hyper focus therein may reduce impulsive outbursts, or up and down on plane, or goodness knows not the dreaded kicking passenger in front of them in back of their seat! Hope this helps!
Regarding medicating for a trip, this gets a bit tricky and can be risky, I generally advise against it for several reasons!
1.) if never taken the med before, what if some odd allergic type or otherwise reaction to the medicine on the plane?! Hard to mange medical emergencies in the air..avoid any new Meds on a trip, make sure have tried at home in past before this trip at least!
2) Some people break down meds differently and can have differing effects, I.e. A relaxant type of Rx may "rev up" a child...Bad News!
Great Over the counter example is Benadryl...many when take it go to sleep, others it does nothing, and still others I have seen them wired and up 24 hours with it and perhaps heightened impulsive behavioral choices!
My advisement is avoid introducing any extra Rx meds in system for just this reason alone! Again, please discuss all of above with your current treating physician and go with what he or she suggests as best option.
thank you again for this follow up question...please send any other questions or feel free to make comments
