1 Dead, 1 Injured After Gwinnett Home Invasion Shootout

One man is dead and one injured after a home invasion shootout took place Monday morning at 850​ Cainbridge Drive, Lawrenceville.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — One man is dead and one injured after a home invasion shootout took place Monday morning at 850 Cainbridge Drive, Lawrenceville, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department. No suspects have been identified yet.

The name of the dead man found outside the residence has not been released and the homeowner, who was shot, was taken to a nearby hospital, after police were dispatched to investigate gun shots shortly before 3 a.m.

When officers arrived, they met with the male homeowner who had been been shot in the leg. Officers acted quickly and applied a tourniquet to the homeowner's leg. The man said that while sleeping he heard the backdoor crash in and he went to investigate the noise. The homeowner, who was armed, encountered three men. Gunfire was exchanged inside of the home and the three men fled the scene. The homeowner's condition in not yet known.

Arriving officers located a dead man's body, who had been shot, a short distance from the residence. The Homicide Investigation Unit and the Crime Scene Unit were called to the scene. After arriving at the home, detectives secured a search warrant, and the Crime Scene Unit began processing the scene.
