2 Sentenced On Gang, Drug Charges In Gwinnett

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Two suspected members of the Sureño criminal street gang have been sentenced to prison after a jury convicted them of methamphetamine distribution, Gwinnett County prosecutors said Friday.

A jury recently found Melvis Argenis Corrales, 29, of Lawrenceville, and Marcos Junior Sandoval, 35, of Norcross, guilty of multiple charges, including violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, according to the Gwinnett County District Attorney's Office.

The duo was arrested after a task force probe in Lilburn, where prosecutors said Corrales and Sandoval were distributing blue and clear baggies containing methamphetamine between Aug. 2, 2024 and Sept. 11, 2025.

Investigators found 15 blue baggies totaling 20 grams with Corrales and two scales and four blue baggies totaling 1.76 grams with Sandoval, prosecutors said.

The authorities later determined the pair were connected to the Sureño criminal gang organization.

Corrales and Sandoval were charged and convicted of violation of the RICO Act, violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

They were sentenced to 40 years each, with 20 years to serve in prison, prosecutors said.

“The carnage that comes from gang activity is intolerable in Gwinnett County,” Gwinnett County District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson's office said in a news release. “I am incredibly proud of our investigative team for their diligence in dismantling this operation and removing these individuals from our neighborhoods.”
