911 Calls Released In Killing Of Jefferson Teen

Police arrested two people in connection with the Wednesday killing of a 17-year-old Jefferson High football player.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA β€” Gwinnett police identified Friday two suspects charged in connection with the killing of a 17-year-old Jefferson High football player.

Kemare Bryan, 18, and Chandler Richardson, 19, both of Lawrenceville, were charged on suspicion of felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commision of felonies, police said.

Elijah Dewitt was shot and killed Wednesday night in the 5900 block of Sugarloaf Parkway around 8:15 p.m., police said. He was found dead in the Sugarloaf Mills Mall parking lot, police said.

Bryan and Richardson are currently in the custody of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office in Anderson, South Carolina, but they will be extradited to Gwinnett County Jail Monday, police said.

Gwinnett police said a motive is currently unknown, but police said it seems the suspects were known to Dewitt.

The shooting was a result of an altercation, police said.

According to 11Alive, 911 calls released included a woman telling dispatchers she heard gunshots while parking her car and that she had seen one of the accused gunmen when he walked past her car.

The outlet reported another 911 call was from the manager of the nearby Dave & Buster's who was attempting to provide CPR to Dewitt.

A third call came from a man describing the scene to dispatchers, 11 Alive reported.

Channel 2 reported Dewitt would have graduated this school year.
