Every year, Aurora Theatre hosts an annual gala to benefit the theatre’s programs, including productions, educational workshops and cultural events to enrich the community. In addition to a magical evening of entertainment, food and drinks, a special partner was honored for its supports and contributions to the success of the theatre. Please see below for the 2017 Aurora Theatre Gala recap and photos!
This year proved to be the most successful gala yet, raising a total of $135,500. A portion of these earnings will be dedicated to the Sutt Family Artist Fund, allowing Aurora to increase artists’ fees and hire nationally renowned artists.
Aurora Theatre also honored Georgia Gwinnett College with The Barbara Award, given for extraordinary dedication to Aurora Theatre, the arts and the local community. GGC President Stas Preczewski accepted the award on behalf of the College.

The event was hosted by Anthony Rodriguez, Producing Artistic Director, and Mabel Tyler, the darling of Aurora Theatre’s productions of Les Misérables and Mary Poppins, and a star of the national tour of Matilda. Joining an all-star lineup of live performances by Aurora artists was Jevares Myrick, a veteran of the Aurora stage and now a Broadway actor, currently appearing in The Book of Mormon. The evening highlighted the many Aurora artists who have gone on to work in major feature films, television, Broadway and national tours – a testament to the artistic excellence of Aurora artists and the need to continue investing in excellent talent.
