249 Animals Adopted From Gwinnett in December

The Gwinnett County Animal Shelter was offering $20 adoptions.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- A Gwinnett County promotion offering animal adoptions for $20 led to 249 cats, dogs and other animals finding homes.

In a news release Tuesday, the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter said that 162 dogs, 68 cats and nine other animals were adopted out during the month-long promotion.

The other animals included sheep, rabbits and guinea pigs.

The $20 fee covered the full cost of adoption, including spaying or neutering, a micro-chip, and vaccinations.

The shelter’s busiest day was Monday, Dec. 21, when 25 animals found their forever homes.

The shelter is located at 884 Winder Hwy. in Lawrenceville and officials say there are still plenty of animals there in need of a home. Anyone interested may visit the animal control website linked above to search for cats, dogs or other available animals.
