Afternoon Thunderstorms Kept Gwinnett Firefighters Busy

From trees and power lines down to triggered fire alarms, the department responded to more than 50 calls in a few hours Wednesday.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- Strong thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon kept Gwinnett County firefighters busy.

From 12:45-3 p.m., the department responded to more than 50 calls for service, ranging from downed power lines and fallen trees to woods and grass fires and reported structure fires.

No structures were found to be on fire during that time, but 11 fire alarms were set off during the storms.

Several homes suffered damage from falling trees and commuters were delayed due to several trees and power lines downed in Gwinnett roadways.

There were no storm-related injuries reported, according to Gwinnett County Fire & Emergency Services.
