Georgia's Largest Public Compressed Natural Gas Fueling Station to Open Oct. 11

On Oct. 11 the state's largest public compressed natural Gas fueling station will open to public and commercial vehicles.

The fueling station is being made available by a partnership between Gas South and American Fueling Systems. Gas South will be the supplier of natural gas used to produce CNG at the AFS station in Atlanta.

The station, which is already being utilized by Dekalb County to fill its 40 CNG garbage trucks, is located at 4430 Buford Highway in Atlanta.

Gas South President and CEO Kevin Greiner stated in a press release, "Fueling automobiles with CNG costs about 50 percent less than gasoline or diesel. This is just one way we are able to provide savings to our customers while greatly reducing pollution and our reliance on foreign oil.”

“Compressed natural gas emits 20-29 percent less CO₂ and 90 percent fewer emissions than gasoline or diesel. We are pleased to provide clean energy alternatives for the Atlanta region,” added AFS President and CEO Rahim Charania.
