Gwinnett County Seeks Volunteers

Gwinnett County needs you.

During the Feb. 15 State of the County address, Gwinnett Commission Chairman Charlotte Nash announced the official launch of the countywide volunteer program, Volunteer Gwinnett, and asked residents, businesses and organizations to participate.

Through the Volunteer Gwinnett program, interested participants can learn about local volunteer opportunities, sign up online, track service hours and submit project requests.

“This program gives every resident an opportunity to give back to our community in a meaningful way, gain valuable experience and help us keep expenses down,” said Chairman Nash in a released statement.

According to Volunteer Gwinnett coordinator Kay Sibetta, volunteers donated 471,000 hours last year helping county departments with various events and activities. The county’s goal is to reach 1 million volunteer hours per year by 2015.
