Lawrenceville, GA – September 9, 2011 -- The Gwinnett County Alumnae Chapter (GCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. announces its participation in the 2011 Gwinnett Great Days of Service on Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Unfortunately, our roadways are becoming dumping grounds for illegal litter. Roadside litter also poses a serious threat to motorists and wildlife. GCAC, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Transportation and Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful, has adopted Riverside Parkway from Lawrenceville-Suwanee to Duluth Highway. Georgia's Adopt-A-Highway Program enlists volunteers to help remove litter from state roadsides. The program brings the environmental and monetary costs of littering into public awareness, and promotes civic responsibility and pride. Volunteers of the Adopt-A-Highway program serve as visible reminders to the public that we are all stewards of the land.
GCAC is extending an invitation to the community to participate in this roadside clean project. For more information on how to register as a volunteer, please visit, http://www.handsonatlanta.org/HOC__Volunteer_Opportunity_Search_Page?p=Spl&veNm=a0MA0000005BWFHMA4a and click on Roadside Clean Up - Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Gwinnett Alumnae Chapter or email ppd@gwinnettdst.org.
