Babysitter, Kids Ages 2 and 3, Escape Lawrenceville Fire
The fire occurred Friday afternoon on Hampton Hill Court.
Three children — a 15-year-old babysitter and the kids, ages 2 and 3, she was watching — escaped from a Gwinnett County house fire Friday.
They were asleep at the time. The babysitter was awaken by one of the children and she led the other children out of the house and to a neighbor’s house, then called 911.
The fire occurred around 4 p.m. on Friday, July 25, at a rental home on Hampton Hill Court near Lawrenceville.

Gwinnett Fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said there were no working smoke detectors in the residence.
There were no injuries reported.

“We are fortunate that the teen awoke to the sound of the child in the room and discovered the smoke,” Rutledge said in an emailed alert.
The fire caused extensive damage inside the house. The Red Cross was contacted to assist the occupants.
