Bethesda Park Softball Fields To Get Makeover

The million dollar project will include a new concessions stand, fencing, a repaved parking lot and more.

The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners approved a $1.02 million renovation of the softball fields at Bethesda Park in Lawrenceville onΒ Tuesday.

Improvements will include a new two-story building to house concessions, restrooms a scorekeeper's deckΒ and offices. The area around the fields will also get improved field drainage, provide more shade for spectators, add fencing and landscaping and repave the parking lot.

β€œThis is another great example of how we’re renovating older County facilities to maintain current service levels while at the same time reducing our operating costs," saidΒ District 2 Commissioner Lynette Howard in a release.

The softball fields at Bethesda Park host tournaments about 40 weekends a year. It is also the home field for the Gwinnett Masters, a team for adult special needs athletes.
