Bruce Adopted: Mutilated Dog That Wandered into Pharmacy Gets New Home

"Bruce" was found with his head burned and ears chopped off on March 6 at CVS on Lawrenceville Highway.

The abused dog that wandered into a Gwinnett County pharmacy in March with its head burned and ears mutilated has a second chance in Maryland.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office posted on its Facebook that a Maryland couple has adopted “Bruce,” a 7-year-old mixed breed dog who was found in a CVS drug store on Lawrenceville Highway on March 6.

The sheriff’s office posted photos from the adoption on March 23 and included this comment:

“This awesome couple drove 10 hours through the night to pick up their new Jail Dog, Bruce, this morning! What a great demontration of their devotion to this sweet dog. He is certainly worthy of it!”

The name of the couple was not revealed.

The AJC reported the dog had been cared for by the Society of Humane Friends of Georgia, which partners with the county jail to provide therapy for abused pets.
