Burqan Ban in Australia

Mockery of religious symbols not only provoke hatred and enmity towards Muslims but also hurt their feelings.

Australian Senator Pauline Hanson wore a burqa to Parliament on Thursday as part of her campaign for a national ban on Islamic face covers. The leader of One Nation minor party sat wearing the black head-to-toe garment for few minutes before making her speech and then explained that she wanted such coverings banned on national security concerns.

We Ahmadi Muslims want such leaders to know that such mockery of religious symbols not only provoke hatred and enmity towards Australian Muslims but also hurt the feelings of billions of Muslims living on this earth peacefully.

Muslim women wear hijab because Islam has strongly emphasized the concept of decency and modesty in the interaction between members of the opposite sex. Dress code is part of that overall teaching. This means that the Islamic dress code for women does not only consist of a scarf that covers the head, neck and the bosom it also prescribes that the overall dress should be long and loose. This modest dressing compels others to focus on the real personality of the woman and de-emphasizes her physical beauty.
