Car With No Driver Slams Into House
Authorities say the car rolled backward from a neighbor's driveway in a Lawrenceville neighborhood.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- It's not every day a car crashes into a house. It's even rarer when a car with no driver does it.
But that's just what happened Thursday in Lawrenceville.
Gwinnett County firefighters responded at 6:45 p.m. to a report of a vehicle running into a house in the 1200 block of Stella Court in unincorporated Lawrenceville.

Crews found a sedan that had broken through the exterior wall on the right side of a two-story wood frame house. And it did so rear-first.
Occupants of the home already were outside and safe when the fire department arrived, a news release said.

There was no driver in the car.
Fire officials say it had rolled backward from a neighbor's driveway across the street, jumped a curb then crashed into the wall next to an air conditioning unit.
Firefighters used wooden supports to stabilize the wall after the car was removed by a wrecker. The family will be temporarily displaced from the home until building engineers area able to evaluate its structural integrity and repairs can be made.
