Today is International Mother Language Day. Languages and education open many doors for us. Bilingualism and multilingualism make sure those doors never stay closed. Knowing more than one language means we are never lacking great opportunities in life. They say: "When you educate one person you change life, when you educate many people, you change world." That means education is very important. Lot of educated people did change the world for a better place. Same is with bilingualism and multilingualism. Our mother language is who we are and is our identity-that is our treasure, but our new language is new treasure we found. We learned new language over time and it definitely secured a bigger and better opportunities for us in new world. Bilingual children are usually good students, they get better grades, better academic achievements. Same is with jobs. There is always a chance for a better job when speaking another language. Just as advanced technology is letting us get information at our fingertips, same is with books nowadays. Did you ever visit local free little library? Local parks and city downtown are installing little free libraries where people can share a book and then bring it back for somebody else to read it. Attached photo is little free library easily found at city of Auburn, Georgia, downtown area and it draws so much attention. There are books for young readers as well as for the adults. Today we not only celebrate our mother language. We celebrate all languages in the world. It is really great to be bilingual and multilingual and it is great to have libraries and little libraries as well because books are our greatest friends.
