Snellville Teen Charged In Shooting Death Of Lawrenceville Teen

The two teens are believed to have met for a drug transaction, police said.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A Snellville teen has been arrested in connection with the October shooting death of 17-year-old Timothy Buchanan, Gwinnett County Police said Thursday.

Shamuel Benjamin, 18, of Conyers, is charged on suspicion of felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, police said.

Buchanan's body was found Oct. 2 near a Mariray Court basketball court, police said earlier in the case.

Authorities believed Buchanan and Benjamin met for a drug transaction, police said.

Benjamin was arrested Wednesday by the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office, police said.
