Do You Recognize This Gwinnett Jewelry Snatcher?

Police say the same man has twice asked to see expensive jewelry at Mall of Georgia area stores, then run away with it.

BUFORD, GA — Gwinnett County Police are asking for help catching a man they say has twice pretended to be shopping for expensive jewelry, only to steal it.

On Friday, police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said the man has hit two stores in the Mall of Georgia area. Both times, he asked a salesperson to look at piece of jewelry, then grabbed them and ran out the door.

The first incident was on Oct. 9 at the Macy's at Mall of Georgia, on 3333 Buford Dr. in Buford. He took two chain necklaces valued at $5,000.

The second was on Oct. 12 at Kohl's, at 2270 Hamilton Creek Pkwy. in Buford. He took a diamond engagement ring valued at $2,500, police say.

Anyone who knows the identity of the man pictured, or has other information about the crimes, is asked to call Gwinnett County Police detectives at 770-513-5300. To remain anonymous, tipsters may contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or visit the Crime Stoppers website.
