Engineer IV - Watershed Improvement

Gwinnett County is accepting applications for this full-time position in the Department of Water Resources.

This class is responsible for designing, reviewing, and monitoring engineering projects and programs. Incumbents may serve as lead to other Engineering staff.  Essential Duties:

  • Oversees construction projects to include defining project budget, reviewing designs and performing data analysis
  • Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring staff are trained, ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures, maintaining a healthy and safe working environment, and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
  • Coordinates the RFP process to include establishing specifications, evaluating vendors, and making final recommendations and manages engineering and consultant contracts including deliverables and pay request.
  • Oversees and/or directs consultants and staff in preparation of engineering planning, design, and construction documents.
  • Provides assistance to homeowners, developers, engineers, regulators regarding engineering related issues.
  • Reads and maintains records and prepares various reports.
  • Upholds professional ethics regarding as a professional engineer for public welfare and safeguarding of life, health, and property.
  • Assists in the preparation of the budget for the section.
