Families at the Heart of Our Program

It's a joy to honor the Jackson family…the March 2019 Family of the Month

The Jackson Family has been chosen as our Family of the Month for March. Leomar and Brittany are the proud parents of Abigail (Abby) in our Explorers Program. The Jacksons round out their family with Abby’s stepmother, Desi, and their two German Shepherds, Tucker and Dante. Abigail lives with her mother; they both have a close relationship with her father and stepmother and they spend many Christmases together! The Jacksons have been members of Primrose School of Five Forks since 2012.

Abby was born in Amberg, Germany and lived there for the first year of her life and has spent many Christmases in Germany (4 of her 8 Christmases have been in Germany). Her father serves as part of the US Army Special Forces Unit and recently relocated to Colorado. Her mother works in MRI at Emory Healthcare. Abby has a baby brother by her dad and stepmother, Desi (Who is not called stepmom; she is ‘Abby’s Desi’). Abigail has traveled to Colorado many times and has hiked 20 miles of the Cheyenne Mountain State Park Trail although she wants to make it to 100 miles.

Abby loves to do Brazilian Jujitsu and ride horses when she can. The Jacksons feel that having experiences is more valuable than having a bunch of neat toys. Instead of big presents the Jackson Family likes to save up to have great experiences together as a family. If they have any hobby as a family it’s traveling and having new experiences together. Abigail has been very fortunate in her life as she has travelled to Europe, the Caribbean, Oregon, and Colorado and has had many amazing experiences during her travels. In fact, her mom recently started saving money for a trip to Japan she hopes for them to take together in the next few years.

Abby goes to German Language School every Saturday and, while it’s unlikely you’ll get her to speak much German, she does understand a lot more than she lets on. Abby got first place in her division during her first Jujitsu tournament (currently the only tournament she’s been in); she has been doing jujitsu for over a year now. Despite the distance, Abby and her brother, Wyatt, are very close and have a connection unlike any you’d expect for two siblings who have never lived near one another.

The Jackson family shares their Primrose experience: “Abigail first stared at Primrose in the summer of 2012. She has attended Private Pre-Kindergarten and Private Kindergarten at Primrose which helped boost her confidence for starting public school. The Primrose family has been a big part of our lives and having her at a school where I know she is genuinely cared for makes it feel like she’s not staying at a preschool, but with family. The staff all knows Abigail, and I know she is in the best possible hands. Abby has learned so much during her time at Primrose because the lessons are engaging and fun. I’ve mentioned how I believe experiences are truly the most valuable gift you can give a child; Primrose has bestowed immeasurable gifts upon my daughter through the incredible experiences she’s had with them. “You’re off to great places, Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so… get on your way!” -Dr Seuss”
