Gwinnett Bust Nabs 500 Pounds of Marijuana
Law enforcement officials say the pot has a street value of $1.2 million.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- A Gwinnett County drug task force made a major pot bust on Tuesday, arresting two suspects and capturing what law-enforcement said was $1.2 million worth of marijuana.
According to a release from the sheriff’s office, investigators from the Gwinnett Metro Task Force identified a suspicious U-Haul truck near the intersection of Cedars Road and Ga. 316 at about 1:30 p.m.
They requested help from a Lawrenceville Police officer, who made a traffic stop and say a K-9 unit was then used to determine that there were drugs in the vehicle.

Investigators searched and found 427 packages of marijuana totaling more than 504 pounds.
Mark Anthony Spaziano 47, the truck’s driver, and a passenger, John Anthony Edney, 48, were arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana. They are being held at Gwinnett County Jail.

Formed in 2012 to investigate drug and vice complaints, the task force is comprised of deputies from the Gwinnett sheriff’s office and officers from the Lilburn, Lawrenceville, Duluth and Suwanee police departments.
