Gwinnett Fire Department Reports Storm Damage
Trees were downed and fires reported as strong storms swept through the county Wednesday evening.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- It was a busy evening for emergency workers Wednesday, as thunderstorms tore through much of Gwinnett County.
Here's a look at some of the storm-related calls that were handled throughout the evening by Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services:
Tree Down on House

- 5100 block of Rockbridge Drive, SW in (unincorporated) Stone Mountain. Crews found a tree down on the roof on arrival. The home was evacuated and there were no injuries reported. Crews secured utilities to the structure and requested the power company. Call dispatched at 6:22 p.m.
- 5300 block of Little Mill Road, NE in (unincorporated) Buford. Crews found a tree down on the roof and power lines down at the location. The home was evacuated and there were no injuries reported. Crews secured utilities to the structure and requested the power company. Call dispatched at 6:32 p.m.
Tree Down on Power Line
- 4300 block of Bending River Trail, SW in (unincorporated ) Lilburn. The caller advised that a tree or tree limb was hanging on the power line. The power company was requested. There were no injuries reported. The call was dispatched at 6:58 p.m.
House Fires

- 4600 block of Matterhorn Drive, SW in (unincorporated) Lilburn. The caller reported a possible electrical outlet fire. There was no sign of smoke or fire coming from the house on firefighters' arrival. It is unconfirmed as to whether lightning played a role. There was storm activity in the area at the time. Occupants were home at the time and there were no injuries reported. The call was dispatched at 6:07 p.m.
- 4800 block of Winters Chapel Road, NW in (unincorporated) Doraville/Atlanta. Caller advised that a service line was down on the house and there was a fire in the attic. Crews found light smoke showing on arrival from a one-story house. Firefighters quickly extinguished a small, smoldering fire in the attic. It is unconfirmed at this time if weather played a factor. It was storming in the area at the time of the incident. There were no injuries reported. The call was dispatched at 6:47 p.m.
- 3039 block of Tiller Trail, SW in (unincorporated) Stone Mountain. The caller reported a smell and haze of smoke inside the house. Crews found no sign of smoke or fire on arrival. Firefighters were checking a possible electrical issue. It is unconfirmed if weather played a role at this time. There were no injuries reported. This was not a working fire. The call was dispatched at 7:05 p.m.
