Gwinnett Fire Dept.: Gas Leak Reported Near 12 Stone Church
The leak was caused by a construction crew digging in the area near Buford Drive and Calvin Davis Circle.

Gwinnett Firefighters were working a natural gas leak Friday afternoon in front of 12 Stone Church.
Gwinnett Fire spokesman Tommy Rutledge said the leak was reported around 4:25 p.m. near Buford Drive and Calvin Davis Circle. This is an area in unincorporated Gwinnett between the cities of Dacula, Buford and Lawrenceville.
The incident closed all lanes of Buford Drive, a busy thoroughfare near the Mall of Georgia. No evacuations were reported as of a 6:13 p.m. email from the fire department. Fire crews were monitoring gas readings and the police were diverting traffic.

One family was told to stay in their house until the leak was stopped, Rutledge said.
“The leak was caused by a construction crew that was digging to lay pipe. The crew hit an approximate 6-inch gas main,” Rutledge said in the email. “An emergency crew from Lawrenceville Gas is working to stop the leak. The gas company is having to dig in three separate locations to stop the leak. There are no injuries reported.”
