Gwinnett High School Student Killed in Car Crash
The student was driving on a curve when he lost control of his car and started spinning out of control, police say.

SUWANEE, GA — A 17-year-old North Gwinnett High School student was killed in a car crash Thursday not far from the school.
Shan Ramcharan, of Suwanee, was driving a 2005 Nissan on Moore Road at about 2:40 p.m. Thursday when he lost control on a curve and began spinning out of control, according to a Gwinnett County Police Department report.
He crashed into a 2001 Toyota Tacoma going the opposite direction that was driven by Ann C. Rhodes, 53, of Sugar Hill.

Emergency crews arrived and determined that Ramcharan had sustained life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, where he died shortly before 9 p.m.
Rhodes suffered lesser injuries, according to the report, and declined on-site medical attention, saying that she would seek care elsewhere. There were no passengers in either vehicle, according to police.

As of Friday morning, police were still investigating whether Ramcharan's speed was a factor in the crash.
