Gwinnett Man Charged in Crash That Killed Army Vet

Bryan O'Keith Hundley swerved into another vehicle on Hwy. 316, according to Lawrenceville police.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A Gwinnett County man has been charged with vehicular homicide in the weekend crash on Hwy. 316 that killed a U.S. Army veteran.

Bryan O'Keith Hundley, of Duluth, faces a misdemeanor homicide charge, as well as a charge of failure to maintain lane, in the crash, which happened shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday.

Jeffrey Bowns, 41, of McDonough, was a passenger in another vehicle and was killed when the two collided.

According to an incident report from Lawrenceville Police, a witness saw Hundley's 2014 Ford Mustang swerve toward the outside, then move sharply back to the inside lane of the highway, striking the vehicle in which Bowns was riding.

That vehicle went off of the highway and into some nearby woods, according to the report.

Bowns had to be extricated from the vehicle, a 2013 Infiniti G37, and later died, according to police.

According to his obituary, Bowns served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division.
