Gwinnett Man Convicted On Child Molestation Charges

The jury took just over one hour to find Joshua David Myers guilty of molesting a 5-year-old girl.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A Gwinnett County jury took just one hour to find a man guilty of sexually molesting his then 5-year-old stepdaughter.

Joshua David Myers, 30, was found guilty of two counts of child molestation and one count of aggravated sexual battery.

At his trial, which ran Monday through Wednesday, evidence showed that on January 18, 2015, the child told her grandmother that her stepfather made her rub his genitals in exchange for not having to take a shower that night.

The girl also said that Myers touched her inappropriately, "inside and outside."

The jury also heard that Myers would promise her toys if she touched him.

They also heard from the defendant's nephew. The nephew, now 27, testified that Myers molested him when he was between the ages of 8-13. He said he wanted to testify to support the young girl, because there was no one to support him when he was younger.

The jury reached a guilty verdict Wednesday in just over one hour.

Myers' sentencing will be held at a later date.
