Gwinnett Man Convicted Of Killing Daughter, Hiding Body in Attic

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A jury convicted a Gwinnett County man on Friday for murdering his 2-year-old daughter and hiding her body in an attic.

The jury deliberated several hours before finding Christian Vasquez guilty of malice and felony murder, WSB-TV reported.

Vasquez's daughter, Prissi, was killed in 2007. Her skeletal remains were eventually found in garbage bags in the attic of the family's home.

Vasquez, his then-wife and stepson had gone to Mexico, the station reported. Prosecutors said Vasquez hit the toddler in the head, then hid her body before hurrying away on the trip. It was months later before her remains were found.

Superior Court Judge Warren Davis sentenced Vasquez to life in prison, plus 70 years.

"As a parent, you owed her love and affection," Davis said, according to WSB. "As a parent, you owed her the duty to take care of her."
