She was taken to the Gwinnett Sexual Assault Center and examined. Based on her testimony and evidence collected, police obtained warrants for Bales' arrest and, on Thursday at about 8:30 p.m., he was taken into custody near his home.
According to the warrants for Bales' arrest, he attacked the victim, choking her and making her perform sex acts on him, while a juvenile family member of hers watched. The warrant said Bales "intentionally allowed" the child to watch the attack.
