Gwinnett Pizza Worker Shot Leaving Restaurant

The shooting happened shortly after 10 p.m. Monday night, after the restaurant had closed.

LILBURN, GA — A worker at a Gwinnett County pizza restaurant was shot as he was leaving the restaurant Monday night, according to police.

The man was leaving Marco's Pizza, at 4045 Five Forks Trickum Rd. in Lilburn, shortly after 10 p.m., after the restaurant had closed. Police were called and found him lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Officers applied a chest seal and began other first aid until paramedics arrived. The victim was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville.

The victim told police that a man dressed all in black attempted to rob him. He said he believed the shooter was a former employee of the restaurant, according to a police incident report. Police do not believe the shooter escaped with any stolen property.

Detectives on Tuesday were working to get more details in the shooting and said they were canvassing the area for potential evidence.
