Gwinnett Police To Host Civilian Active-Shooter Training

The course will be free and open to anyone, with no advance sign-up required.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA β€” Gwinnett County Police are planning a civilian active-shooter training class.

The course will take place on Thursday, August 18, at 6 p.m. It will be at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration auditorium, at 75 Langley Dr. in Lawrenceville.

The course is open to everyone and no advance sign-up is required.

It will be taught by Gwinnett Police's crime prevention unit and will feature a curriculum guideline provided by Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training.

Gwinnett County Police said in a news release that, over the past several months, it has received several requests for an active-shooter class for civilians.

The course will be recorded by Gwinnett County Communications and will be available at a later time to those who cannot attend.

It will appear on TVgwinnett, the county's local government-access cable channel, and on demand at www.tvgwinnett.com.
