Gwinnett Woman in BMW Led Police On Wild, Drunk Chase: Report

Ahmaru Avegnon-Blake faces 23 charges, including DUI, after the chase early Wednesday.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- A Gwinnett County woman faces nearly two dozen charges after an early-morning police chase in her BMW in which she blew out her tires and nearly hit several officers.

Ahmaru Avegnon-Blake, 36, of Lawrenceville, was arrested on charges ranging from DUI to aggravated assault to driving with a suspended license after the chase, which began at about 2 a.m. Wednesday.

According to police reports, an officer attempted to stop Avegnon-Blake at the intersection of Breckenridge Boulevard and Centerview Drive after noticing she was "driving on flat tires" and failing to keep her black, BMW 750i in a single lane.

That's where a Gwinnett County Police officer executed a PIT maneuver -- a controlled crash to stop a fleeing vehicle -- on Avegnon-Blake's car.

Even after spinning out, police say, she tried to ram into their squad cars, nearly hitting several people.

Avegnon-Blake refused a DUI breath test and was taken to Gwinnett County Jail, where blood was drawn and she was charged with DUI.
