Inmate Dies On Work Detail, Hit By Car On Highway
The inmate was struck at about 9:42 a.m by a vehicle and died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — An inmate died while on a work detail Wednesday, when a car hit him while he was working along Lawrenceville Highway near the intersection of Lawrenceville Suwanee Road, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department. The identity of the deceased inmate is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
The inmate was struck at about 9:42 a.m by a vehicle and died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The Accident Investigation Unit was called to the scene.

The 44-year-old woman driving a red car was determined to be at fault for the accident and charges are pending.
There were no other occupants of the vehicle and no other injuries.
