Inmate Threatened To Kill Probation Officer, Gwinnett Sheriff Says

A Gwinnett County inmate is facing additional charges after authorities say he threatened to take cocaine and kill his probation officer.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A Gwinnett County inmate is being accused of threatening to kill his probation officer over a recorded jail call.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday said the incident happened on March 23.

During the call, inmate Stephen Stillwell said he planned to "ingest cocaine and kill his probation officer" after being released, authorities said.

Investigators later notified the probation officer and interviewed Stillwell, authorities said.

Warrants were then obtained to charge Stillwell with terroristic threats and acts, authorities said.

Gwinnett County Jail records on Tuesday showed Stillwell also faces probation violation charges. He is being held without bond.

'The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office takes all threats of violence seriously and remains committed to the safety of the public and those working within the criminal justice system," authorities said in a news release.
