K-9, Suspect Injured After Shootout In Gwinnett County Neighborhood: Police

A K-9 and suspect were injured during a shootout in Gwinnett County, according to police.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A shootout Monday between a suspect and Gwinnett County police has left a K-9 and the man injured, according to Gwinnett County police.

Police said they responded to an aggravated domestic violence call on Pine Lane just after 10 p.m. Monday. The man threatened a woman with a handgun and ran from the scene before police arrived, they said.

Gwinnett police K-9 unit and the Aviation Unit responded and located the man in a wooded area nearby. The man started shooting at officers, hitting the K-9, police said.

The officers returned fire and shot the man. Aid was administered and the man was taken to a nearby hospital. The K-9 was taken to a local animal hospital for treatment, police said.
