Math: An introduction to how math applies to everyday lives as they play and explore with counting, measuring, geometry, patterning and problem-solving strategies.
Language and Literacy: Children learn and practice foundational skills, such as phonics, word study, fluency and comprehension. Literacy skills are introduced during classroom read-alouds, and then built upon through teacher-directed small groups.
Writer’s Workshop: The art of process writing, including the stages of the writing process and how to write the various types of text, is introduced in the daily workshops.
Project Time: Through Small and Large groups, children engage in experiences each day where they may focus on a specific project in science, art, social studies, or character development and life skills.
Differentiated Instruction: During daily small group literacy and mathematics instructional times, teachers provide instruction and practice at the children’s level of readiness.
Thumbs Up!(R) Physical Activities: Plenty of outdoor time, in the morning and afternoon, is allowed for students to take advantage of both organized activities and the state-of-the-art playgrounds at the school. An enhanced and grade specific Playball® curriculum, with team building and advanced large motor skills, are included in the program.
Music classes: Rhythm & Notes® is a program that is unique to the Primrose curriculum that not only engages students on a daily basis with music time, but also includes and app for parents so that they can continue to enjoy musical lessons at home. The Kindergarten Music Class includes a hands-on workbook where children learn to read and write music.
Parent partnership: Primrose makes it a priority to offer parent interaction with the Leadership team at any time, as well as for face-to-face conversations with teachers during morning drop off and afternoon pickup.
