Known Divorce Attorney Killed In Lawrenceville Shooting, Fire

The man accused in the case is being charged on suspicion of malice murder and arson, a report says.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Firefighters found a man's body inside of a Stone Mountain Street business late Wednesday afternoon while responding to a fire, according to the Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services and a media report.

11Alive reported the body belonged to known divorce attorney Doug Lewis, who was shot inside of his law offices by a client's husband. The offices were then set on fire, the outlet reported.

Gwinnett fire officials said Thursday firefighters responded around 5:30 p.m., when crews saw heavy smoke and fire coming out of the single-story, wood-frame structure.

The body was found while firefighters were searching the building, fire officials said.

First responders saw a man walking away from the scene, who denied medical assistance and was detained for questioning by the Lawrenceville Police Department, fire officials said.

Lawrenceville Police Lt. Jake Parker told 11Alive the man is identified as Allen Tayeh. Tayeh is accused of shooting Lewis, then pouring gasoline inside of the offices and causing the fire, the outlet reported.

Tayeh is being charged on suspicion of arson and malice murder, 11Alive reported.

No firefighters were injured, fire officials said.

Gwinnett Fire investigators and the Lawrenceville Police Department are investigating the case.
