Lawerenceville Neighboorhood Alliance Candidate Forum

Renita Hamilton has lived in Gwinnett County for over 13 years and has 20 plus years of corporate, professional, and business experience. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from Savannah State University and Master’s degree in Strategic Leadership from Tennessee State University will be awarded in Spring 2014. Renita owns small business called Polished Affairs LLC, a wedding, social, and corporate event planning company incorporated in 2003. Upon relocation to Lawrenceville in 2000 Renita met and was mentored by Community Activist Robbie Susan Moore. Renita went on to assume many civic and neighborhood leadership responsibilities including President of Timbergate Homeowners Association, Ways & Means Chair for local chapter of Order of Eastern Stars, Employee Contribution & Campaign Manager for the United Way, and President for Gwinnett Community Garden Group. Renita performed duties as District 1 Chair for Gwinnett County Democrats and served as Precinct 60 Captain. Renita has been recognized and received the prestigious Citizen’s Award 2012, for her community support and philanthropic efforts within our community; as well Renita is Recipient of the Lawrenceville Tourism & Trade Association Golden Hammer Award. Β Renita continues to volunteer for many local organizations such as NAACP, Dignity in Schools, Adopt-A-Road Trash and Liter Pickup, Gwinnet County Public School Council Parent Member, Reading Coach at Gwinnett County Public Schools, and much more. Renita is committed to every citizen and small business owner in our district with a goal to reach out to all people within our City by working to create a more inclusive government. Most recently Renita successfully negotiated and won the bid to bring Falcons player Roddy White’s Keeping the Faith Foundation, GC-United Political Action Committee, and American Federation for Children into the City of Lawrenceville to giveaway Back to School Supplies to more than 400 local families and children hosted at the local Boys and Girls Club. From the Federal, State, and Local level Renita continues to partner with local vendors, non-profit organizations and businesses to bring quality community based events to Lawrenceville while matching private and public dollars. Renita continues to champion the people. Renita is a mother, Christian, thoughtful neighbor, and friend.

Renita Hamilton’s hopes for the City of Lawrenceville include a 5 point-10 Step Strategic Plan that addresses the core issues facing our residents and community. Jobs, Education, Small Business, seniors, youth, and Family are priorities that will be addressed in order to move the City of Lawrenceville forward with continuity. Renita encourages citizen’s support and believes a diverse board of energetic people, will take Lawrenceville forward. Renita’s believes budgeting conservatively with transparency and accountability helps a community to thrive and Renita will engage and work with all of the members of Council and the Mayor to continue progress while bringing innovative solutions to our everyday concerns.
