Lawrenceville Highway Hit-And-Run Victim Identified

Police have charged a driver in the Saturday crash with vehicular homicide, hit and run and driving under the influence.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA β€” Police have identified a Lawrenceville man who was struck and killed while he was trying to cross Lawrenceville Highway early Saturday.

Gwinnett County Police say Jalen High, 22, was the victim of a hit-and-run on the highway just past Wabash Drive.

Adedotun Odunsi, 38, of Lawrenceville, was driving a 2016 blue Hyundai Sonata northbound on the highway at about 3:45 a.m. Saturday when he struck High, according to police.

He then left the scene and did not offer assistance, they say.

Shortly after hitting High, Odunsi struck a guardrail at Lawrenceville Highway and Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, according to police. They say officers found damage to his vehicle consistent with the pedestrian crash when he was finally pulled over.

Odunsi was placed under arrest and charged with vehicular homicide, hit and run and driving under the influence.

He is currently being held at Gwinnett County Jail.

Police say High was found in the middle of the road and declared dead at the scene.
